The New PKM Database Opens!

This is a crosspost by fenzo666 from the new PKM Database

The last time you saw the PKM Database, it was closed down under shady circumstances and replaced by a mysterious countdown timer. However, at exactly 12:00 PM today, the timer has been replaced with an entirely different website: the new PKM Database!

To clear up any confusion: no, Nintendo did not really send us a DMCA complaint. There was never anything of the sort. We were never going to take the Database completely offline. We just needed some kind of excuse to take the website offline for a week. Sorry if you were fooled - we hope that the new Database will make up for everything you've missed.

The most noticeable difference with the new database is the new, redesigned interface. We've totally reworked it, switching to a content system like the main site. Also like the main site, the front page is now a news section where news on events will be posted regularly.

With the launch of the new PKM Database comes a plethora of new features, many of which will be released in the coming weeks. First off, we have three new legitimate wonder cards - the infamously elusive WCS Milotic from Japan, and both wonder cards available in the new Pokemon Ranger game: the Almia Darkrai, and the Kyle Riolu. A big thank you to NTR-AAQE-USA for supplying these wonder cards!

We couldn't quite get a complete GBA event collection on day one, so that feature is currently offline. Rest assured, we will be uploading a huge GBA event collection will be taken online in the next week or so. All of our D/P events, however, are completely online, and are now available in both PKM and wonder card form!

Another feature that is currently being worked on is the EventDex, a complete listing of all Pokemon events in the GBA and DS eras. Each EventDex entry will include. The EventDex is currently halfway done (you can see a preview of it here) and will be released soon.

Last but not least, all this would not have been possible without the contributions of our members. All of our wonder cards, all of our PKMs, and most importantly, our motivation, comes from the community. Thanks everyone!

I would also like to thank the following people for helping me create the new Database and for making major contributions: Poryhack, coolbho3k, SCV, Sabresite and Illithian.

Enjoy the new PKM Database and click the "Add new comment" link to tell us what you think of the new database!

P.S. Keep your eyes peeled, because within the next week, you will see many more updates including the EventDex, a new logo, a complete PKM Database, a GBA Event Download section and more!

Nintendo DSi NOT compatible with Pokésav

It has been confirmed that the Japanese edition of the Nintendo DSi will not work with homebrew slot-1 devices, probably due to a new built-in flashcart protection. Since the DSi also lacks a slot-2, this probably includes the Action Replay DS as well as all current homebrew carts. Consequently, WiFi save backup tools (like Savsender and Rudolph's WiFi Backup Tool) and ARDS codes cannot be used on the DSi hardware.

If the DSi is (or is becoming) the only DS you own, you will not be able to use Pokésav. Until this new protection is hacked or new DSi compatible homebrew/cheat hardware is released, we suggest that you do not let go of your old DS or DS Lite.

New Pokésav translations

fenzo666 and I have just finished fully translating the new versions of Pokésav into English. The latest Pokésav for Diamond and Pearl, version 0.40c, is completely translated. However, we have only made a 0.06c translation for Platinum (the latest Japanese version is currently 0.06d). Nonetheless, both versions should be fully functional, and we will work on getting a 0.06d translation out to the public soon.

Special thanks to CadaGuti, who translated the lists for our earlier Pokésav releases!

Keep in mind that this is beta software! Use it at your own risk, and always back up your save file before using Pokésav. Please report any bugs to me on the forums, but be aware that I can only address bugs on the translation and not the program itself.

UPDATE: CadaGuti has provided me with a 0.06d translation. It has been posted below.

COM has updated Pokésav for Diamond and Pearl as well as Pokésav for Platinum, adding a PID/IV generator and a trash byte editor to the program. We are currently working hard to translate these new versions of Pokésav, and will release them as soon as they are done. In the meantime, here are download links for the Japanese versions:

PCD Safe by Poryhack Released

Poryhack has released PCD Safe, an online utility to import and extract wonder card files (PCD files) from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl saves. This tool is notable because, unlike Pokesav, it leaves all wonder card data intact, including special characters (Japanese characters, accented E, etc.). Because it prevents corruption, it is highly recommended that you use this tool instead of Pokésav to extract wonder cards.

The utility does not currently work with Pokémon Platinum.

Special Formes on Platinum WiFi (with PKM DB video)!

One disappointing limitation of Pokemon Platinum's WiFi play is that the new Platinum formes will simply refuse to work. A Sky Shaymin, for example, will simply revert to being a normal Shaymin when it is brought online. However, there is now a workaround! SCV has discovered an Action Replay code that allows the full use of the new Platinum-exclusive Pokemon formes (Origin Giratina, Sky Shaymin, and all of Rotom's different formes) on WiFi in Platinum.
